Will we be able to find you?

Our yearly reminders; as we roll into spring, one of our biggest concerns and highest volume of calls for service during this time are Brush Fires.  When cleaning up your yard and burning the downed tree limbs, sticks, leaves and other yard debris, it is important to take into consideration the placement of your burn pile, pit, or barrel.  If you are going to burn, a cement block pit or barrel is preferred and should be placed well away from any structures and wooded tree line areas.  Be sure to clear away any combustibles that could potentially aid in the spread of a brush fire if your fire becomes uncontained.  It is also important to evaluate the weather conditions prior to lighting any sort of outdoor fire.  A light breeze on a day with low humidity can spread brush fire very easily.  Even after a day of rain, low humidity and a light breeze will dry out much of the leaf and ground litter very easily and can create prime conditions for a fire to spread.  Also consider your neighbors while burning, the smoke from your fire may travel to their homes, and with warmer weather their windows may be open, please be considerate.
